Workshops

Develop your creativity and produce an amazing piece of clay art worthy of proud display. As an aspiring artist, with or without experience, you will make your pottery or sculpture masterpiece from your own creative ingenuity, at your own pace and with plenty of one-on-one guidance from Cathy Spencer, Award Winning Potter and Sculptor.

The Fried Mudd studio runs several workshops throughout the year. You will find a list below of our current workshops. We also cater to private groups – if you have your own group of friends let me know what dates work for you and we can create a one day or weekend workshop just for you!

Mudpies for Children - 05-07-2023

Winter holiday creativity

Young artists can experiment with a variety of creation methods while they learn to think about their ideas. There is something magical about children when they immerse themselves into creativity.

Once a child learns to express and execute their personal visions in clay, they can become empowered in ways that go beyond the walls of the studio or classroom. They'll have fun stimulating the imagination and learning a range of hand building techniques.

Magpies and Currawongs - 15-07-2023

Birds of a Feather

Magpies are one of my favourite birds in the real world and were always in abundance in North Maleny. Still prevalent here in Noosa, they share the skies with the vocal Currawongs, so it seems appropriate to add them to the mix.

Attendees will create their bird in the morning and apply under glaze after lunch.

I will be providing an option, to purchase a pair of steel legs on the day, for $12.00 a pair.

Inner Goddess - 29-07-2023

A goddess of love, hope, or prosperity ... you decide.

This workshop is designed for you to create your own goddess in clay. It can be a goddess of love, hope, resilience or prosperity - it is simply a symbol of what is important to you at that moment in time.

Cathy will guide the group through a lovely visualisation, while feeling the clay we prepare our mind and body to create the spirit of our Goddess. Then watch the magic happen!

Weekend Sculpture Workshop - 28-10-2023

The ultimate sculpture class

This two-day workshop is designed for those that have some prior experience in reproducing the human form in clay. If you've done a sculpture class before (e.g. Bathing Beauties, Inner Goddess or have experience from elsewhere) and want the time to learn and to spend on the finer details of your work, then this is the class for you.

Spreading the workshop over two days allows greater focus on facial detail, hands, feet and other complex features. The Saturday, will be a full day (9:00 - 4:00), followed by a more relaxed start to the Sunday (10:00am - 3:00pm, or as long as required).

This exclusive workshop is limited to six places only!
